Infantry Attacks
A Contemptible Little Army
On 23 August 1914, the British Expeditionary Force, dispatched to France to fight alongside the French Army, ran head-on into the German First Army near Mons, France. The BEF, composed of long-service volunteer professionals highly trained in marksmanship and rapid fire, slowly gave ground to superior German numbers in Britain’s first battle of the Great War. Kaiser Wilhelm II had dismissed them as “a contemptible little army,” words he would come to regret.
A Contemptible Little Army is a stand-alone game in
the Infantry
Attacks series, our World War One equivalent
to the long-running Panzer
Grenadier series. Units are companies
and squadrons, and the thirty-six scenarios represent
actions from the pivotal Battle of Mons and its aftermath, that heralded the opening of the bloody four-year struggle on the Western Front.
The 429 pieces are the die-cut, silky-smooth type seen in all of our recent games. They're just plain fun to handle. These are the best wargame counters ever made.
There are four semi-rigid mapboards, the same type
found in Panzer Grenadier games.
They are fully compatible with the Panzer
Grenadier boards — you can play scenarios
from either series on mapboards from the other
game system.
Stuff Included:
- 36 scenarios and six battle games.
- Four rigid cardstock maps.
- 429 playing pieces.
