Viking Funeral
Everything has a life span, and games – at least from the publisher’s perspective – are no exception. You can play them for decades, until they physically fall apart, and still have plenty of fun. You can sell them for a long time, too, but not quite as long.
That time appears to be over for seven of our oldest games, plus one book expansion. We’ll leave the five that we still have on hand (Alsace 1945, Gazala 1942, Red God of War, Hannibal at Bay and Red Russia) available until Tuesday 4 September 2018, and then take them out of print. The three already out of print (Bitter Victory, Island of Death and Fortress Malta) will simply remain unprinted.
Alsace 1945
Alsace 1945 is based on the German Operation Northwind, the last-gasp offensive timed to launch right after the Battle of the Bulge. We intended the game to be playable separately or together with America Triumphant, our game of the Battle of the Bulge, but never brought that game back into print once it sold out. It’s a fun little game, and plays very quickly.

Gazala 1942
We released Gazala 1942 and Alsace 1945 together; while they share a similar game system they play very differently. Gazala is a game of desert mechanized warfare, noted for its beautiful Terry Strickland map.

Red God of War
The Soviet Operation Mars of late 1942. This game has one of the best titles ever, and we sold a huge number of them, but we printed an even huger number. Red God of War uses the same game system as Alsace 1945, and the larger playing area and huge number of units make it a great deal of fun to play.

Rome at War: Hannibal at Bay
This was the first Rome at War series game, and though we often called it the series introductory game, Hannibal at Bay was merely the smallest of them and had no introductory material within. The game’s easy to play and has a pair of very fine Guy Riessen maps.

Red Russia
Our multi-player game of the Russian Civil War never sold as we’d hoped; the dark color scheme of its art didn’t help even though Red Russia plays really well thanks to sound design and development.
